LEGAL SERVICES FOR CREATIVE PEOPLE Minimize
My name is Adam Kagan and I provide creative people with entertainment business and legal affairs assistance. My practice includes entertainment industry negotiation, business formation and project planning services. I am interested in working with established companies as well as emerging artists or businesses. For the convenience of my clients, I am also a trained mediator and a Notary Public.

Before beginning my law practice, I was a law clerk at the law firm of Epstein, Levinsohn, Bodine, Hurwitz & Weinstein. I also spent ten years as an independent producer in New York and Los Angeles and was the head of production at Fourth of July Productions, Inc. in New York City. I won the Telly Award three times for commercials I produced for James Taylor and Barry Manilow, but the greatest part of my job is working with a wide range of talented people. My legal practice is built on the lessons learned from ten years in the trenches as a producer of music videos, television commercials and feature films.

I am a member of the New York State Bar and am also admitted to practice before the Federal Courts in the United States District Courts for the Southern District of New York. I have a Juris Doctorate from Pace University School of Law, with a Certificate of Concentration in International Law.* I also have a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the NYU Film School (the Maurice Kanbar Institute of Film and Television of the Tisch School of the Arts, at New York University).

My Producer reel and resume are available at the Reel
& Resume link above. My article "International Arbitration in the Entertainment Industry" is available at the Industry Articles link above. It was originally published in the Spring 2006 issue of the Entertainment Arts and Sports Law Journal of the New York State Bar Association. I invite you to contact me through any of the means listed in the Contacts section above. Whatever type of production you are planning, I wish you the best of luck.

*Certification is not required for the practice of law in New York, and certification does not necessarily indicate greater competence of certified lawyers than other lawyers experienced in the certified field.
